Currently the Hazlet, NJ club is seeking a full-time Operations Manager to join its management team. 

Reports To: General Manager

Supervises:  Housekeeping Manager and Club Staff

Operations Manager Position Purpose and Responsibility:

To optimize club profitability through new member enrollment; member retention; supplementary services (primarily Personal Training) and physical plant & housekeeping expense management.

  • To enhance and execute company vision, mission and standards through staff leadership and management of related operational systems.
  • To ensure that the club is operated in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding health and safety standards, taxation, licensing, labor laws, consumer relations, etc. as well as all insurance requirements.
  • To enhance public reputation through community affair involvement, participation and innovation in club marketing, improved programs, and listening to members' suggestions and challenges.

 Operations Manager Specific Duties:

  • Membership Sales
  • Department Management of Maintenance/Housekeeping Departments as well as kids' Club, Member Services, and Pool. 
  • Marketing

 Membership Sales:

  • Oversees and ensures the production of all Membership Representatives each month.

 Department Management:

  • Housekeeping/Maintenance, Member Services, Kids' Club & Pool Department Management.
  • Oversee the recruiting, hiring, training, evaluation and motivation of all department managers and staff towards the accomplishment of departmental goals. 
  • Ensure that all areas of the club remain in immaculate condition and appearance at all times. This will require daily/weekly walk-throughs with the Housekeeping Manager and Building Maintenance Staff.
  • Ensure that all fitness equipment remains in good working order and stays clean to Tilton/Meridian/Can Do Fitness standards. The Operations Manager is directly responsible for handling all equipment maintenance issues and ensuring that equipment is repaired in a timely fashion.
  • Create and maintain departmental schedules that adhere to budgeted parameters in all departments that fall within the scope of the position (i.e. Housekeeping & Maintenance).

 Marketing:

  • Participates with the GM in the development of a marketing plan, strategy, and execution that realizes goals of guest traffic generation and reputation management.

Operations Manager Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a fitness related field; ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA, ISSA certification recommended.

Experience:  Small business management experience including personnel and marketing experience; 2-5 years' experience in commercial fitness.
